ISSUES
Alex Thomas will be as fierce an advocate for her constituents as she is for her students.
PLATFORM, MORE THAN A VISION.
Dependable public services
When roads flood, when buses run late, when emergency services are delayed, the people of West Memphis are immediately impacted. We deserve better than the deferred maintenance and the lack of planning we’ve put up with for so long. To address these shortcomings, I will initiate a countywide infrastructure review. I will institute preventative maintenance planning, work with constituents to solve ongoing problems, and provide regular updates on their progress.
Forensic accounting
I’m neither a career politician nor an accountant. But I know that we have some of the highest taxes of any county in Arkansas. And yet we have little to show for this. I intend to get to the bottom of the budget; to understand myself, and then explain to you, why we seem to pay so much and receive so little. I will be as hard a worker, and as fierce an advocate for my constituents as I have been for my students.
Transparent communication
Our current Quorum Court has left too many people feeling left out. Whether it was the lack of early voting sites for the general election, or an absence of communication about current issues, our Quorum Court seems not to have the best interests of its community at heart. There needs to be more information, more transparency, and above all, more accountability. To insure we have these, I intend to live-stream Quorum Court meetings. I will also post meeting notes and hold regular community conversations, so that the public remains aware and well-informed of what is happening behind doors that will no longer be closed.
